Robert Hood & Femi Kuti join forces to play James Brown for "Variations" series
French media & collective Sourdoreille has announced the release of a new season of its Variations show, a programme where contemporary electronic music producers meet classical musicians to perform new interpretations of classical and jazz pieces.
For its fourth installment this November, artists billed include Detroit techno pioneer Robert Hood teaming up with Femi Kuti — son of afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and an accomplished artist and activist in his own right — who will reinterpret music by the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. Also featured will be Dave Clarke & violinist Mathilde Marsal playing Gustav Holst, Superpoze & Sabine Deveilhe playing Hildegarde Von Bingen and renditions of Erik Satie by Mad Hatter and French-Lebanese composer Bachar Mar-Khalifé.
Broadcasted by France.Tv Culturebox, this year's event will take place in Paris CDG Airport on Friday 8 November with enhanced visual installations from the Scale collective.
