Sheffield's Bal Fashions to be re-launched this weekend
Sheffield’s Bal Fashions is set to re-open this weekend after a major refit.
Located on Exchange Street next to Delicious Clam, Bal Fashions' rebirth further signals a renaissance for Sheffield's rapidly redeveloping Castlegate area. The space, which describes itself as a bar, club, events space, coffee shop and cosy hang out, will host two rebirth events this weekend, on both Friday and Saturday.
Force Majeure, who have spent the past few years carving out a niche for bringing innovative, underground electronic sounds to Sheffield, will top Friday’s bill, along with 7 Hill and Thatmanmonkz.
Round two will follow on Saturday with Apricot Ballroom and Fruit N Juice, a DIY arts & events collective with a focus on empowering and celebrating everything feminine & queer. Spectre Burlesque, Sheffield’s premier erotic art collective, will also lend themselves to the celebrations.
Bally Johal, owner of the venue, said he intended to create an inclusive space that was open to everyone: “We wanted to have an inclusive venue that was open to everyone in Sheffield. It’s a tight, intimate space and an alternative to the run of the mill venues" he said, “it’s not about ticket prices, it’s more about the music and the people.”
Both nights are free of charge, with attendees encouraged to bring the right attitude and vibe.
