International Festival Guide - June 2019

31 May 2019

Nowadays, it feels like there are more festivals than days on the calendar. So many, in fact, that it can feel overwhelming and intimidating to trawl through everything that’s on offer to find the perfect weekend destination. But not to worry - we’ve done it all for you! Read on for our June picks - featuring events in the UK, Poland, France, Netherlands, Italy and Egypt.

INSTYTUT Festival - Warsaw, Poland

Unique on a global scale, the Instytut Festival of Music and Arts will take place this June in a 19th century barracks just outside of Warsaw. The Modlin Garrison is the longest building in Europe and is located in the very heart of Poland at the confluence of two rivers: the Vistula and the Narew. The Instytut is keen to defy any attempt to define it as just another music festival. The organisers want to create a unique experience, a celebration of all electronic music lovers, a mosaic of personality and experiences. Alongside undisputed legends and masters of electronic music such as Donato Dozzy, Ben Klock or Richie Hawtin, the Instytut will play host to a whole range of exceptional artists, including Ancient Methods, Tommy Four Seven and Andy Stott.

Camp Disco - Derbyshire, UK / 21st-23rd June

Returning in 2019 for its fifth year, Camp Disco is set to come back with a bang this June. Freshly located among beautiful rolling meadows in Alfreton, the Peak District setting provides the perfect backdrop to a family-oriented weekend. As well as the magical countryside backdrop, the festival will take place on 21-23 June - this year’s summer solstice.

With all the best bits of a family festival, a knees-up and a camping holiday, Camp Disco endeavours to provide something for every member of the family, rolling it all into one glorious weekend. Bristol DJ duo The Allergies, old-school hip-hop connoisseur DJ Format and Tuesday Club resident Andy H will each top one of the event’s three days.

We Love Green Festival - Paris, France

Fuelled by the simple desire to showcase a collection of artists that reflect our time, We Love Green Festival is an eclectic event that crosses the bridges between disparate genres. Located in Paris’ sprawling bois de vincennes park, standout acts at this year’s celebrations include Tame Impala, Christine and the Queens, Bonobo, FKA Twigs and Peggy Gou.
The festival also contains a "think tank", a space set up at the heart of the festival to promote the exchange of ideas to better understand this changing world. The festival also has strong environmental and ecological sympathies - The organisers planted a tree for every one of the 80,000 people that attended last year’s festival.
