Decolonise Fest 2019: Preview
Organised by the DIY Diaspora Punx, unmissable London event Decolonise Fest is back for its third year at the DIY Space For London. A two-day DIY punk festival collectively organised by and for people of colour, the event looks to rewrites the rules surrounding the punk genre all while celebrating those who have descended (through one or both parents) from the original inhabitants of Africa, Caribbean, Asia, Middle East, Latin America, Australasia, North America, and the islands of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean.
Promoting a line up featuring pioneering UK based DIY punks like Best Praxis and Big Joanie as well as international punk bands Power Balance and Weedrat, the event organisers aim to create a space that breaks down the white supremacy and patriarchy they witness in the punk scene.

Decolonise Fest will also be holding workshops touching on topics affecting people of colour, offering vegan food all weekend and hosting an afterparty on Saturday night. The festival’s workshops will see a range of subjects from activism to art discussed, including a panel from Miki Berenyi, Momoe Tasker, Camille Fry and Whiskey Chow about East Asian and Pacific Asian Women in Punk; as well as poster making with Rudi Loewe.
Reflecting the best of the punk scene and its varying styles, Decolonise Fest takes place at the DIY Space For London from the 29th to the 30th of June and accommodates all those wanting to celebrate people of colour.BUY TICKETS
