Party for the People raised nearly £1500 for Sheffield Cathedral Archer Project last year!

The organisation, which was our Charity of the Month last December, was formed in response to Sheffield’s growing industrial decline in the 1980s.

It began with the congregation at Sheffield cathedral offering a free breakfast to homeless people. Since then, the project has since expanded into a holistic service designed to help homeless people improve their lives. Their services include access to hot food and showers, provision of nurses and dentists, as well as a structured volunteer programme to help improve employability and confidence.

Just Works, a social enterprise stemming from the Cathedral Archer Project, was also nominated for the Homeless Link ‘Social Enterprise of the Year’ award.

The Sheffield charity will also host a night of music followed by a sponsored sleep out to raise money for the homeless this weekend. Taking place this Saturday, the unique event experience will encourage people to come together to help raise awareness for homelessness. In the words of the events organisers, the night will be “a chance for you to challenge yourself and gain a small insight into what it is like for people sleeping out, for whom sadly, sleeping outdoors is not a one-off experience.”
