Family fun at Valley Fest 2019: Preview

2 July 2019

The self-proclaimed “best tasting music festival in the South West” is set to return to Chew Magna this year for lashings of lazy lakeside lushness.

Back in 2014, founder Luke Hassell set up the festival at his family farm after a stint as a civil engineer. Founded in honour of his parents, who passed away a short time from one another, Luke strives to celebrate the joys of life by channelling their spirit.

With stunning views over Chew Valley lake, the family-friendly festival takes place on a working organic farm. The farm provides the perfect setting to teach kids where their food comes from and show them around the land.

This year’s eclectic bash will see two-time BRIT award winners Basement Jaxx bring their unique brand of boisterous dance to the farm. 25 years on from their original formation, 2019 has already seen the two-piece travel to Australia with a full orchestra, with plans for new music in the works.

Leftfield, described by MixMag as “the single most influential production team working in British dance music," will also headline the festival. Now a one-man act, after Neil Barnes resurrected the name in 2010 without former partner Paul Daley, this year will see the 30th anniversary of the group’s original formation.

Razorlight and Tom Odell will also both headline the main stage.
