Fourth release on Banana Hill - Vagabond by Jinku - due July 8th
After a string of digital-only edits over the last few months, Manchester label Banana Hill return with their 4th full vinyl release - Vagabond EP by Kenyan producer Jinku. Drawing on influences ranging from UK electronica to East African polyrhythms, the EP is described as 'deeply personal', laced with 'tension' and 'discordant sound layers'. Available on the 8th July, you can listen to and pre-order the EP on Bandcamp now.
Co-founders JVC and Cervo began organising parties under the Banana Hill moniker in Sheffield over 6 years ago, soon making a name for themeselves for their genre-spanning music policy and distinctive guest bookings. Pushing sounds such as afrobeat (s), kuduro, jazz and disco in addition to the clubland staples of house and techno, the duo set their night apart - leaving their steel-city fans with countless fond memories as they shifted base to Manchester in 2015. In 2017 the team launched a record label to accompany their party, the latest Vagabond EP the fourth offering following releases from the likes of Majid Bekkas, XOA & Contours and Kawuku Sound.
You can catch the Banana Hill DJs supporting Gilles Peterson at Peddler Warehouse on the 20th July - grab tickets here.
