For our first party of 2017 we're escaping the cold harsh winter of Leeds and heading over to West Africa to explore the infectious rhythms of Afrobeat, singing guitar melodies of Highlife and the incredible synth fusion which came out of Nigeria, Ghana and Benin in the late 70s and early 80s.

We'll still be playing all of the Trini classics and Brazilian beats from the previous events, but you can expect a few more tunes from the likes of Fela Kuti, Pat Thomas, Ebo Taylor, Tony Allen and William Onyeabor to name a few.

Who Are We?

Named after Culture Of Soul’s defining album ‘Tropical Disco Hustle’, we aim to celebrate, not appropriate the immense talent and music that came out of the Caribbean, South America and the African continent during the late 70’s and early 80’s.

With such a rich and diverse crate to dig from our guest DJ will be selecting the finest dance floor grooves for us to party to, and in the run up to the night we’ll be posting mixes, albums, artwork and stories to help paint a picture of why this movement should be celebrated!
