After a decade holding it down in the Sheffield underground, Liquid Steel Sound celebrates it’s 10th year alongside one of the all-time greatest reggae roots soundsystems: Channel One!

From casual throw-downs at coffee shops on West street and The Runaway Girl (now Silversmiths Restaurant) to the unforgettable sessions at Ethiocubano, LSS has been a mainstay on the scene for a long while pushing eclectic sounds from across the Bass music spectrum.

After starting out as a weekly internet radio show playing Liquid Drum & Bass, LSS has grown into a respected club night and soundsystem that has played host to some of the biggest artists in Dub, Garage, Grime, Dubstep and Drum & Bass.

Our 10th Birthday will be a celebration of the foundations of sound system and also a nod towards the pioneering producers coming out of Sheffield.

Formed in 1979, Mikey Dread of Channel One Sound is a UK Dub originator with one of the most widely known soundsystems in the world. Hugely popular amongst veterans and newcomers alike, Channel One have always stayed ahead of the curve. Their classic dub plate selection is still relevant today as proved by their Red Bull Culture Clash victory in 2010.

With over 30 consecutive years at Notting Hill Carnival and a tour schedule that stretches across several continents, Channel One are arguably the number one roots reggae soundsystems on the planet and we are delighted to have them help celebrate our tenth year. With Ras Kayleb on the mic and Dread at the controls, expect a six hour exploration through the foundations of sound system culture.

In room two, LSS is joined by a DJ that had a huge influence on our sets in the early days: R8 Records chief Rogue State. Alongside our residents we’ve also got the driving force behind rave label powerhouse OffMeNut Records with Phatworld plus an exclusive Drum & Bass set from Dankle making the second room strictly a family affair.
