The contributions of Black, Latinx, Asian, Middle Eastern & Indigenous people to punk music and culture has been consistently and grievously ignored by history and continues to be undervalued to this day.

This is why we, the DIY Diaspora Punx, a collective of musicians, artists and creatives, have come together to organise the first ever Decolonise Fest, 2-4 June 2017.

Decolonise Fest will celebrate all the brilliant punx of colour, who we define as people who are descended (through one or both parents) from the original inhabitants of Africa, Caribbean, Asia, Middle East, Latin America, Australasia, North America, and the islands of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean.

We want to celebrate the Diaspora Punx that are creating right now, acknowledge our elders and the doors they opened for us, while also making room for more punx of colour to take centre stage and make noise.
