*Identity, heritage and the autochthon by Helaku 2pm - 2:30pm
Decolonising Identity - Discussion with Hel: Who are you? What defines who you are? How do you define yourself? How and why are these rules implemented and what implications do these “rules” have on ones social standing?
*Racism in Punk by Cassie Agbehenu 1pm - 2:15pm
How can Punx of Colour use the punk scene to organise in times of fear, austerity and political tension? How can the UK punk scene more generally work to build a more inclusive community beyond the DIY punk scene? Oppressed people have been leading movements of resistance for hundreds of years and with the rise of the far-right across the globe, the urgency to fight has never felt so strong. It cannot be on the shoulders of those facing hatred alone to burn our structures of hierarchy and to decolonise our systems. Let's plan for understanding, learning and action.
*Activists of Colour 2:30pm - 4:15pm
Decolonise yr panel. Activists from BLMUK, Wretched of the Earth, and Sisters of Colour (a part Sisters Uncut) will be in in conversation with a Latinx grassroots community organisers facilitating a talk touching on Decolonisation, Gentrification, Global Solidarity, Police Brutality, Community Building / Support. And why these groups need to exist in the UK. This will be an opportunity to find out what these groups are doing, possibilities of getting involved and reflect on how you can start/grow the activism in your life. With time for questions from the audience. This is not an academic lecture.
