Thanks so much for sticking around with us, always holding tight till the next show - your support, as ever, is truly appreciated. It is with total delight that we can now announce our first show of 2018 >>
Sarathy Korwar & Upaj Collective: Homage
Upaj Collective is formed of a combination of jazz and indian classical musicians who share a love for deep jazz and Indian music, with a keen ear for the many tributaries that flow between them. A ‘70s sounds flipped for today, Upaj will move through mode & raga based music, Western rhythms & tal feel. The musicians range from award winning sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun to guitarist Giuliano Modarelli, Aravindhan Baheerathan on bansuri (indian classical flute) and many more. Each has a shared & detailed understanding of both jazz and Indian classical traditions, giving equal birth to blistering grooves, trance-like states & wandering flights of consciousness.
We’ve got a new plan on the food for this one, which we will be announcing sometime next week. Suffice to say for now, we are collaborating with one of Hackney’s finest spots in what we are sure will be a sincerely titillating experience. Clue: the restaurant also runs a record label...
Much love heading out to Raimund Wong for his ever inspiring artwork.
As ever, we’ll have our residents Born Cheating & Lexus Blondin spinning records to direct us through the night.
