Manchester-based arts collective The Opera Shack bring opera into the 21st Century with their accessible and immersive production of Carmen by Bizet; combining opera, spoken word and jazz. Set in Roaring 20s New York where prohibition’s in full swing, everyone wants a ticket to the club where Carmen sings. This production will challenge the stereotype of Carmen as the seductive femme fatale, instead exploring narratives of domestic violence, with a percentage of proceeds going to support Manchester Rape Crisis. Featuring performers and arrangers from the Royal Northern College of Music and The University of Manchester. Remember to come in 20s attire!
