Room 1:
We are pleased to announce that our Brothers in Dub; Rebel Lion Sound System will be joining us for this ROAD BLOCK event, with very special guest vocalists Trilla Jenna & Kingjay.

***Trilla Jenna*** - Founding member of the all-female Gold Label Sound System
Trilla Jenna came to prominence with Gold Label Sound System, formed in 1989. The women made their move on the scene and soon found fame, clashing with the ruling sound systems of the time; Gemi Magic, Sir Coxsone Outernational, Saxon and One Love Hi Powa.
Jenna's uncompromising DJ style and delivery earned her a huge following, who likened her aggressive delivery to that of her male counterparts. Her notoriety led to numerous sessions with UK producers, the majority of which were dub plate specials. Hard to find!
In 1992, Trilla Jenna (as Thriller Jenna) recorded her debut album "Thrill Dem Wid It", released by Mad Professor. This critically acclaimed album featured classic dancehall hits including "Schizophrenic", "Wash Slackness", "DJ Mama", "Old Time Stylee" and "Don't Cry Mama".
International tours soon followed, with sessions in Europe, USA and Jamaica. Jenna's success in Italy resulted in her appearance at the International Women's Week Festival, three years in a row.
As well as touring in her own right, Trilla Jenna also supported Burning Spear, U-Roy, Freddie McGregor, Sugar Minott, Pato Banton and Macka B.
Trilla Jenna also made time for numerous TV and radio shows, including a notable appearance on the Young, Gifted and Broke series, performing "Trill Me".
In 1998 Jenna composed and performed "I don't care", "Action" and "The Clash" for the Channel Four Film Company release "Baby Mother". Whilst working on the film, she formed allegiance with the Status Crew, recording and releasing "Trill Me" in the year 2000.
In the same year she also joined The Sista crew, alongside AbbaKush, Aisha, and Akabu, releasing "Focus", their combined performance being greeted with critical acclaim.
In 2002 Trilla Jenna embarked on a European tour with Lady Saw.
In August 2017 Trilla Jenna released a new single; "Chain & Bangle".

***Kingjay***- UK/JA Freelance vocalist. BIG in the game, releases on King Original and Youth Promotion
Born in London, singer Donovan Kingjay spent his formative years in Hanover JA, before returning to the UK to finish his schooling and to begin his musical education. Kingjay’s voice has often been compared to the likes of Dennis Brown, Bushman, Luciano and Michael Buckley. Kingjay (then known as Singjay) served his apprenticeship on Youth Sound Lord Creation before becoming a regular on East London’s King Original, North London’s King Josiah and appearing on Unity Sound and UK Youth Promotion. Encouraged by King Original’s Wazir alongside Negus Roots, Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell and Sugar Minott, early development as an artist gave him his first recording opportunities. Singjay’s first release was the self penned “State Of Mind”, which was followed by other releases on King Original records. His long stints with King Original, exposed him to a great many artists, producers and musicians in the Reggae music family including Sugar Minott for whom he recorded “Never Too Late”, released in Jamaica on the Youth Promotion label in 1998. Kingjay quickly became a prolific freelance artist, working with many sounds & labels. His debut album “Higher Meditation” was released in 2013, produced by himself and Nereus Joseph.
